Types of finishing:
UNCOATED
Uncoated finish does not have a coating to fill in between the fibres. It is rougher than a coated finish and tends to be more porous, which makes it very absorbent. Images printed on uncoated paper will be softer and less crisp. Uncoated papers are great options for novels and books to write in.
GLOSS
Shiny and bright finish which is why it’s typically used for brochures, posters and flyers. Coating is applied to the paper and a roller is used to polish the paper. It fills in the tiny spaces between the fibres, giving it a smooth service.
MATTE
Gloss enhances visual designs without much glare. It has a more flat or muted feel than gloss. Matte finish is great for designs with lots of text because matte paper changes less under light.
