How do Google Ads appear in search results?

In a Google Ads search campaign, advertisers create tailored ads and choose relevant keywords to target. When a user searches on Google (a query), Google scans for advertisers bidding on related keywords. If matches are found, ads appear on the search engine results page (SERP).

Each keyword receives a Quality Score, ranging from 1 to 10, based on its relevance and other factors. Additionally, Google calculates an Ad Rank score for each keyword by multiplying its Quality Score by the advertiser’s maximum bid. The ads with the highest Ad Rank scores are prioritised and displayed to users.
